CT to FL Day 27
Skidaway Island, SC to Wally's Leg Anchorage, GA
We left Delegal Creek Marina this morning at 0845... even later than yesterday... we' getting lazy the closer we get to Florida.... GRIN.
Was a very windy day with winds 20-25 knots most of the day... no real effect on the sea state in this section of the ICW... any large inlet we crossed were only a bit choppy... but it was cold... luckily we had a lot of sunshine to keep the pilot house warm... like a greenhouse.
One challenging area today... Little Mud River... we arrived at dead low tide... we crept through at 3 to 4 knots and the majority of the time we had the less 5 feet of water... we draft 5 feet... so it's was like sliding across mud bottom... not fun at all but we made it.
We arrived to the our destination for the night north of Brunswick... an anchorage on the McKay River named Wally's Anchorage on Active Captain. We were securely anchored at approximately 1730... Our location for night
N31°15.480',W081°23.965'. We traveled today for 8.75 hours covering 57.9 nautical miles averaging 6.6 knots.
We anchored with two other boats... both of which we have passed or they passed us since Virginia... it's funny how you travel in bunches... even though you may stop for a day or two you end up seeing the other boats again.

CT to FL Day 26
Port Royal, SC to Skidaway Island, SC
We left Port Royal a little later than planned... probably due to the birthday celebration... GRIN... not getting away from the dock until 0815.
Our original plans were to go to Kilkenny Marina today but with the late start the currents were not in our favor and we spent most of the day with current against us... so we decided we would go as far as we could and anchor.
The anchoring plan fell apart when looking at the charts at where we would be around 1600-1700... all the anchorage area just did not look enticing and had poor reviews on Active Captain... we opted for a marina instead... Susan wanted to make a run to the grocery so the marina would work out great... Delegal Creek Marina on Skidaway Island. We had been here before and they had a golf cart you could use to run to Publix.
We arrived to the our destination for the night... Delegal Creek Marina on Skidaway Island at 1630 and were secure on the dock with shore power at 1645... Our location for night
N31°03.390',W081°03.737'. We traveled today for 8.5 hours covering 54.5 nautical miles averaging 6.4 knots.
After docking I did a quick oil change on both engines while the oil was still hot and easy to extract... then we were off to Publix on the Golf Cart to restock a few things we were running low on.... awesome sunset looking across Delegal Creek to the ICW.
