SC to CT Day 16
Layover Chesapeake City, MD
Another day in Chesapeake City... next leg of our trip is to Atlantic City, NJ so we need a good forecast for seas in the Atlantic in order to leave... so far that's not looking good for days... but the forecast weather changes quickly... we'l check again tomorrow.

SC to CT Day 14
Solomons, MD to Chesapeake City, MD
Up early before sunrise to check weather forecast... South winds 5-10 knots increasing later afternoon to 15-20 knots with gust to 30 knots... seas increasing to 3 foot. Forecast was good for several hours in the morning for sure... we could make a small step north to Galesville or maybe Annapolis. We left the dock at 0630 hopeful for a good 6 hours before winds and seas picked up.

We were about 5 hours out when we had a container ship pass us heading south... it may of been a smaller ship but it was putting out a huge wake... just after it passed I turned into it's wake... there were only two waves but they were gigantic... 6 to 8 foot and right on top of one another... first one the bow came up with and then we dropped down into the trough and the next one hit the bow and over it onto the foredeck... WOW... quite the experience for sure... things flew around inside the boat a bit but we had nothing damaged luckily.

As we were approaching the Annapolis area we still had very little wind and following seas 1 to 2 ft... weather was not looking good for the next couple of days so we decided to continue on to where we had planned for Saturday night... Chesapeake City. We had a current pushing us and looking at the tide ahead of us the push would continue all the way there... we maintained 7.5 to 8.0 knots most of the way... as we hit the C&D Canal the current was pushing us over 9 knots.

We arrived to Chesapeake City at 1800 and were securely docked at 1815. Our location for night is N39°31.638’, W075°48.667’. We traveled today for 11 hours and 30 minutes covering 88.2 nautical miles averaging 7.7 knots.

There were signs on the dock... "No Recreational Boating Allowed" due to Corvid-19 Maryland State Restrictions... Susan is worried we are gong to get booted off the docks... from what I have read this does not apply to vessels transiting the area... only to local boaters... so we will see what happens.
