CT to FL Day 1
Stamford, CT to Manasquan, NJ
We had a late departure from Stamford this morning getting under way at 1000 due to tide. It was dead low tide when we wanted to leave ad we could not get out of the slip as the water behind us is too shallow... even at 1000 we were churning up some mud... even the channel going out to Long Island Sound was pretty shallow with the depth sounder unable to get a reading... just flashing 5.0 LAST... LAST... LAST. We finally made it out to deep water and headed west on the Sound bound for New York City.

Arrived to Hell Gate at slack tide and it was uneventful... we started getting a boost from the ebb tide as we passed the United Nations building and soon we were being pushed with the current at 8.6 knots... not that big a push but any push is better than having the current against you. Carried the boost from the current to 4 or 5 miles south of Sandy Hook.

The seas were great... light chop on top of a 2 to 3 foot ground swell that gave us a very gentle ride all the way to Manasquan, NJ.

We arrived to our destination in Manasquan at approximately 2000 and were securely docked at the Shrimp Box Restaurant at 2015. Our location for night N40°06.110', W074°02.255’. We traveled today for 10.25 hours covering 71.1 nautical miles averaging 7.0 knots.
