FL to CT Day 13
Duplin River. GA to Hilton Head, SC
We left a bit later this morning at 0730... still before sunrise and we did get to see an awesome skyline as we left the anchorage...
But that was the last time we even saw a glimpse of the sun... the remainder of the day was wind and rain... 20 to 30 kt winds with heavy downpours... was not a pleasant day of cruising at all...
We decided to stop between 1700 and 1800... and we came to a good anchorage about 1730 just before Hilton head, SC... we anchored here last year and rode out some bad weather... winds 30 to 40 kts so we knew it was a good place to anchor... the winds were down a bit when we pulled in to the anchorage and not raining.... there were 3 sailboats anchored when we arrived and 2 more anchored after we did.... but still plenty of room.
We arrived at approximately 1745 and we were securely anchored at approximately 1800... our position for the night N32°09.452', W080°51.094’. We traveled today for 10.5 hours covering 73.3 nautical miles averaging 7.0 knots.
